These biscuits are an adaptation of the Oat and Almond Crumble Cookies recipe from things {we} make. I have replaced the flaked and ground almonds from the original recipe with cocoa powder and chocoloate chips.

Almond Ice Cream

Most of the recipes I have found online require an ice cream maker, but one is really not needed. All you need to do once you have the mix in the freezer is remove it every so often and whisk with a fork to prevent the formation of ice crystals. Making ice cream is actually a very simple process.

Following on from the vanilla ice cream, I have also made an almond ice cream a couple of times. Definitely worth trying; one of the key benefits of making your own ice cream is the ability to get flavours which are not generally available.

I’ll be posting some more of the recipes I have used when making ice cream, but will start off with a simple vanilla one (which my neice described as better than shop bought).

Cinder Toffee

I was always a fan of Cadbury’s Crunchie and other cinder toffee (also known as honeycomb toffee) when I was younger. I haven’t had any for a long time and when I stumbled across a some recipes online I had to have a go at making it. It was really good; light and crunchie.

Oat and Walnut Crumble Cookies

These biscuits are an adaptation of the Oat and Almond Crumble Cookies recipe from things {we} make. I have replaced the flaked and ground almonds from the original recipe with chopped walnuts.

I thought the almond ones were delicious (I have a serious thing for almonds), but I think the walnut versions are even better.

I like these biscuits, possibly a little too much. It is a recipe adapted from things {we} make. The main difference is that I use more flaked almond and also add an equal quantity of ground almond to the mix.

Ham And Cheese BBQ Pizza Close Up

I made my first ever pizza the other night and I have half a ball of mozzarella remaining so I decided to have a go at a ham and cheese pizza.

Ingredients

  • Pizza base
  • Three slices of smoked ham
  • Mature Farmhouse Cheddar
  • Half a mozzarella ball

I had another pre-baked pizza base to make life easier.

Sausage And Bacon BBQ Pizza Close Up

There is no other way of saying this; I am a fussy eater. I would say I eat well, but I do eat a limited range of items.

In recent times I have been trying to broaden my horizons, food wise, by trying other foods. One food I have never tried is pizza; mainly because I don’t like the smell and also because I don’t like tomato. However, I’ve spent a little time thinking about this and then searched online for alternatives.

The alternative I found was BBQ sauce which I do like. Having determined this I looked at the toppings I could use which I had in the house or could easily get.

Ingredients

  • Pizza base
  • Two pork and apple sausages
  • Four rashers of smoked bacon
  • Mature Farmhouse Cheddar
  • Half a mozzarella ball

I bought a pre-baked pizza base to make life easier; making the pizza at all is fairly adventurous for me.

Dark And Sticky Gingerbread With A Whiskey Glaze

Gingerbread Close Up

I’ve always enjoyed baking and have always tended to bake based on the recipes I got from my mother. Well, I recently decided that I wanted to do a proper gingerbread, but I didn’t have a recipe. I did some looking around and found one in the Food section of the Daily Telegraph website.

I’m posting the recipe here so that I can easily find it (I have a large sceptical streak which makes me concerned the recipe a disappear, or have the permalink changed, at some point) and to record any adjustments I may make.
